About Shipping Container Drawings .Org

Green Quest Research Institute, dba, Shipping Container Drawings .Org

The Green Quest Organization
was established in 1970 as a family research group in the United States. Our original goal and primary quest was to research, develop, and provide affordable engineering tools and educational materials to Eco-Green professionals, educators, and DIY consumers and enthusiasts in the United States. By 1980 our sustainable research, tools, and technical reports became of great interest in Canada, Latin America, the UK, and Europe.

In 2004, Barry Naef, the director of Green Quest, opened an office in Hong Kong, which was the base for our research and affiliated projects in China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, India, Malaysia and the Philippines regions.

Soon after our staff arrived in Hong Kong, we became more aware of the Shipping Container industry, the technology, and the potential uses of ISO Shipping Containers as sustainable, recyclable, and upcyclable units. If we saw them as such value for our own projects, we realized the value of their use and sustainability to many other organizations and companies globally may be important also.

To our surprise, we learned that in 2006, there was no official Organization for the Shipping Container industry; our staff immediately reached out to become the leading force and funding to help create and fund the much-needed Shipping Container Home Association and the Container Dealers Association to properly promote and advocate the use of ISO shipping containers as sustainable, recyclable storage units, emergency shelters, and housing.

In late 2006, various container dealers and engineers asked us to help provide accurate 2D and 3D models since most ISO Shipping Container manufacturers would not allow their drawings for distribution. These drawings made it much easier and affordable for architects, engineers, and container dealers to design and modify shipping containers for other uses.

We never understood why the container manufacturers stopped the distribution of these drawings, but our Green Quest engineering staff began the tedious task of drawing the Shipping Containers in 2D and 3D formats. By late 2006 and early 2007, our first 2D/3D CAD drawings were available for use by architects, engineers, container dealers, and educators globally.

Our Vision

Since 2006, we have become a highly respected resource for professionals. Our research, educational materials, and drawings are now used in 195 countries of the world.

Our focus is on Green Energy, geothermal, recyclable materials and processes, and sustainable technologies such as year-around geo-air greenhouses, grow rooms, geo-solar home heating/cooling technologies, and we provide funding to the first and primary advocacy organizations of the valuable recyclable ISO shipping container technology and their uses, including shipping container homes, and emergency shelters since 2006.

Our decades of research, drawings, plans, and educational materials are used daily in literally every country of the world. "We are the source" and inspiration to thousands of DIY consumers, business entrepreneurs, architects, engineers, students, and educators for more than 50 years and the prime source of engineering drawings to the Shipping Container trade and construction industry globally for over 17 years.

Whether you're a professional or a consumer, you've probably seen our technologies, concepts, and drawings hundreds of times all over the Internet but didn't know it because we are the source of these modified drawings. But that's OK with us...!

We are passionate advocates of recyclable Shipping Containers and their sustainable technology, and "we are the source" for architectural drawings and educational materials...

Our goal is to promote and inspire, keep our products affordable, and save professionals and consumers the time and money of the expensive research and hundreds of hours creating 2D and 3D drawings and models, and instead let them spend their valuable time and money on other areas of development and production.

Our customers tell us they save an average of 20 to 100 hours per model purchased, resulting in hundreds and thousands of dollars saved, which can be a matter of project failure or project success.

Initial funding in the 1970s was from the Naef Family Foundation, a USDA grant, and later a grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE) in 1977, operating self-funded since 1978.
Green Quest legal headquarters are in Sheridan, Wyoming in the United States, and other EU headquarters and research facilities in Europe and the Balkans since 2015.
